JFK meet and greet means a chauffeur is inside the terminal when you come out of baggage claim or customs, not sitting on the roadway. Curbside is the other product: the car stays outside, and you walk to the door you named. If the booking says curbside, nobody is in the hall with a card. Say which one you want before the flight leaves the origin city.
When a JFK meet and greet beats the curb
Use it when the passenger should not have to find a curb alone. That is a first time in New York, a late international arrival, a child traveling with an adult who asked for a person in the hall, or a group that will be slow with bags. It is also the standard for VIP arrivals where the passenger should never be looking for a car. Use curbside when you know the terminal and you are fine walking out to a car that pulls up on a text.
The chauffeur is never at the gate. Gates are past security. The meeting point is in the public hall: near the baggage claim you were given for a domestic flight, or at the point where international passengers come out after customs. Agree on that spot in the booking so you are not circling two different carousels.
What dispatch needs before landing
Send the flight number, the terminal number, the passenger's mobile, and the name for the card. Terminal 4, Terminal 5, and Terminal 8 are separate buildings, and a chauffeur inside one of them cannot step across to another. The AirTrain is a passenger train. It is not a way for the greeter to change buildings after you have landed in the wrong one.
The car is timed to the flight being tracked, not to the arrival printed yesterday. If the inbound is late, the walk inside moves with it, and if you land early, the same thing happens. Do not tell the rest of your party to wait at a different exit. One hall, one person, one card.
Domestic claim versus the customs exit
On a domestic arrival you are in the public hall as soon as you leave the secure concourse and pick up bags. The greeter is in that hall. On an international arrival you still have customs, and the greeter is on the public side of that process. They cannot pull you out of the line.
Stay in the hall until you have found each other. If you walk out to the curb because you got impatient, you have left the meeting point, and the chauffeur is still inside. Call the mobile on the booking before you change floors. The arrivals roadway and the hall are two different jobs.
The ride after the handshake
From the airport back to Manhattan, off-peak is 60-90 minutes and rush is 90-120. That clock starts when the bags are in the car, not at wheels-down. A morning departure is a different sum: the drive time plus about 2 hours at the airport for domestic, or about 3 hours for international. Do not mix the arrival greeting with the departure pad. For the fare side of that ride, see how much a limo to JFK costs.
One to three passengers and about 3 bags fit a Cadillac Lyriq or a Mercedes S-Class. Up to 6 passengers and about 6 bags fit a Chevy Suburban or a Cadillac Escalade. A Sprinter Limo lounges about 10, and an Executive Sprinter seats up to 12 in forward-facing seats. The greeter and the vehicle are booked together, because a sedan cannot absorb a group's extra bags in the hall.
- Say meet and greet or curbside. They are not the same booking.
- Send the flight number and the terminal on the boarding pass.
- Domestic: meet at the baggage claim you were assigned.
- International: meet on the public side after customs.
- Stay in that hall until you see the chauffeur. Do not wander to the curb.
