NYC Airport Limo Guide: JFK vs LGA vs EWR Black Car Service

Picking the right airport for your NYC trip is half the battle. Here's how JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark compare for black car service: terminal access, pickup logistics, typical travel times, and what to expect when you book.

If you're flying into or out of the New York metro, you have three primary airport options (JFK, LaGuardia (LGA), and Newark (EWR)), plus a handful of secondary options including Westchester (HPN) and Teterboro (TEB) for private aviation. Each has very different implications for ground transportation: travel time, traffic patterns, terminal access for chauffeurs, and curbside versus inside meet-and-greet logistics. This guide walks through how to think about each option when booking black car service.

JFK: Best for international and longer point-to-point

JFK is the largest of the three airports and handles the bulk of international traffic into NYC. Eight terminals, multiple airline alliances, and AirTrain connections to the terminal area make it a logistical maze for first-time visitors, but a familiar one for chauffeurs who do this every day.

From Manhattan, plan on 60-90 minutes during off-peak and 90-120+ minutes during rush hour. Brooklyn pickups are typically faster (40-70 minutes). Curbside pickup is standard at the arrivals level; meet & greet inside the terminal is available with extra lead time for the chauffeur to park and walk in.

LaGuardia: Best for domestic and faster Manhattan access

LGA is the closest of the three to Manhattan in real terms (30-50 minutes off-peak, 50-80 minutes during rush hour), though traffic on the Grand Central Parkway can be unpredictable. The recent terminal modernization (Terminal B, then C) has improved both passenger experience and chauffeur staging.

LGA is overwhelmingly domestic. If you're flying from another US city, it's almost always the right choice. The one caveat: LGA's runway configuration is more weather-sensitive than JFK's, so winter storms cause disproportionate delays here.

EWR: Best from New Jersey and Manhattan's west side

Newark is closer to Manhattan than JFK for many west-side and downtown clients, particularly when traffic on the BQE or Belt Parkway is bad. The Lincoln and Holland tunnels are the choke points; chauffeurs route around them in real time based on conditions.

EWR is also our default airport for any client based in northern or central New Jersey, and is the easiest of the three for clients with morning flights. TSA Pre-check lines move faster here than at LGA most days.

Private aviation: Teterboro and Westchester

If you're flying privately, Teterboro (TEB) in NJ or Westchester (HPN) are the FBOs we use most often. TEB is 20-40 minutes from midtown depending on tunnel traffic; HPN is 50-75 minutes from midtown but is often the preferred option for clients in Connecticut or northern Westchester. We coordinate directly with the FBO for tarmac pickup at both.

What to expect when you book

  • Provide your flight number. We track it from gate to gate automatically.
  • Specify curbside or meet & greet at booking. Meet & greet adds a flat fee and requires the chauffeur to enter the terminal.
  • For early morning departures, we recommend booking 24+ hours in advance to lock in your vehicle and chauffeur of choice.
  • International arrivals: factor in 30-45 minutes for customs and baggage; we monitor your status throughout.
