Long Island North Fork Wine Tour Limo: Routes, Vehicles, Itinerary

A practical guide to a North Fork wine tour from NYC or NJ: what the day actually looks like, which wineries pair well together, how long you'll spend on the road, and what to expect for cost.

Long Island's North Fork is one of the most accessible wine destinations on the East Coast, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours from Manhattan in light traffic and longer on summer Friday and Sunday afternoons, with more than 40 wineries clustered along Route 25 (Main Road) and Route 48 (Sound Avenue) between Aquebogue and Greenport. A wine-tour limo turns it from a four-vehicle, four-designated-driver headache into a single-day experience that starts at the door and ends back at the door.

The realistic day structure

A typical GSALux North Fork wine-tour booking runs 9 to 10 hours door-to-door: 2.5 to 3 hours drive each way, plus 3 to 4 hours of tastings and lunch on the North Fork. We recommend 3 winery stops with lunch in the middle. Fitting more than that into a single day means rushed tastings and a stressed group; if you want more vineyards, plan an overnight.

Suggested 3-winery itinerary

  • 9:00 AM: Pickup in Manhattan.
  • 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM: Arrive Bedell Cellars (Cutchogue), flagship producer, beautiful tasting room.
  • 1:15 PM: Lunch at North Fork Table & Inn (Southold) or Love Lane Kitchen (Mattituck).
  • 2:45 PM: Macari Vineyards (Mattituck), family-owned, biodynamic, great outdoor seating.
  • 4:15 PM: A third North Fork stop such as Paumanok Vineyards (Aquebogue).
  • 5:30 PM: Begin return to NYC.
  • 8:00 to 8:30 PM: Drop off in Manhattan (later if Sunday traffic is heavy).

Which vehicle for your group

  • 2-4 passengers: Cadillac Escalade or Chevrolet Suburban. Plenty of room, plenty of cargo for wine purchases.
  • 5-6 passengers: Same SUVs. Still comfortable.
  • 7-12 passengers: Mercedes Executive Sprinter (12 captain's chairs, large windows, ample case storage in the back). The most-requested wine-tour vehicle in our fleet.
  • Celebratory group (bachelorette, milestone birthday): Sprinter Limo (10 lounge seats).

Practical tips

  • Reserve tastings in advance, especially on summer Saturdays; most reputable wineries now require reservations.
  • Don't overbook the day. Three wineries with time to enjoy each beats five rushed tastings.
  • Bring a cooler for any case purchases on hot days. Parking lots are not climate-controlled even if the vehicle is.
  • Eat. The North Fork has excellent lunch options including North Fork Table, Love Lane Kitchen, and North Fork Roasting Co.
